I read a post on my favorite comics message board about Star Wars Ep III. The post completely spoils major plot points of the movie, if you're interested.

Just click on the subjects to read scenes.

It looks like Lucas may finally NOT disappoint, from what I've read.

I'm not clicking on that link...but yeah, I heard Lucas really out did himself on this one. I hope he did...don't get me wrong, I liked Phantom Menace...but attack of the clones had a few weak moments in it. Hopefully this last episode is what the old fans are looking for.

"Sometimes I do what I want...most of the time, I do what I have to." (Cicero, from "Gladiator")

"There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path." (Morpheus, from"The Matrix")

"It's not cheating if you win...do what you have to do, but don't sacrifice your own honour in the process." (Taken from my iaido instructor, and modified by me)

"I am serving my time in hell on earth...at the job I am currently employed at." (Magnus, about his job)

Actually, I thought Phantom Menace was weak. Casting was poor, it featured weak characters, bad acting, and silly dialogue, and that segment of Lucas's story seems unimportant. It felt like a set-up movie, which was made to set-up later episodes. Attack of the Clones featured more interesting elements of his story, with Yoda's unknown abilities and the origin of Stormtroopers and Boba Fett. It still had a force-fed romance story, but some great action. There were a lot of questions from the first movie, like what happened to Qui-Gon Jinn, what the hell midi-chlorians are, etc. Weird stuff people didn't quite get what their role was in the overall story.

This one seems to wrap everything into A New Hope, which will be more relevant, fun and nostalgic. But this crop of movies feels more stiff, less natural in delivery, and misses that one character, a Han Solo, to add more interest to protagonists. Lucas did a great job in Star Wars Ep IV by having a protagonist who was somewhat morally ambigous.

I did feel Phantom Menace was weak, but for starters, it's starting the story and it's still not a bad popcorn flick. (The Darth Maul / Obi Wan / Qui-Gon battle was almighty.)

I don't know why people knock on Attack of the Clones, it really was a darker story and had new elements not seen in ANY of the other movies (the Jedi fighting together in battle). The romance was silly and forcefed however, I think it would have been smarter to start with story with Anakin and Padme already romantically connected (in some way). Anakin came off more like a creepy stalker in that movie (sorry, even Darth Vader's gotta be suave).

I am indeed looking forward to this next movie, although I think a twelve minute duel scene has too much receipe for disaster....just because a fight scene is made really long doesn't mean it will be good. But we shall see.

I agree, the Darth Maul battle was truly brilliant choreography (spelling anyone?). It felt very dramatic, swashbuckling, and John Williams just went on a tear with the music for that scene. It made the movie. Pod Racing was very fun too.

You're right about Anakin coming off as kind of whiny, and a creepy stalker. I didn't mind the casting as much in Ep II, the actor who played Anakin did what he could with some bad written scenes. But if you're in a spoiler mood, read the scenes for Ep III. The trailer that gives you a hope of some real kick-ass, man, this flick WILL deliver. Not sure about the quiet scenes, though. Can't tell if they'll be better. But they will be more intense.

Jimmy Smitts will probably play a bigger role as Leia's adopting father.

I kind of find it hard to believe that there is much of a buzz over this movie after the last two flops.

I loved all the star wars movies. The concept as a whole is just completely creative. Anyone that can integrate 3 movies that are almost 20 years apart is a freaking genius. Star Wars is Darth Vadar, he is the one that brings balance to the force when he chokes the living crap out of the sith. How can he flop it's practicaly impossible at this point.

Sorry, didn't mean economical flops.
What really gets me is how the new ones have somehow tainted the old ones. And I hope he does pull off the final one, I think that there are a lot of people out there who really want to like this movie. It would just be a real shame if he ends the saga with a real boner as I heard that there isn't much chance of the last three ever being made.

I don't know if tainted is the right wording to use. What really happened is that the expectations were so high that the movies just did not live up to the hype in some peoples minds, especially the people who saw the original release in the theater way back when. I think the major downfall of 1 & 2 is that they have performances from main characters that are almost unwatchable. Phantom Menace had the annoying Jar-Jar and Episode 2 had Hayden Christiansen. I don't know what Lucas was smoking when he cast him, but I'm sure it was reeeaaaalll good.

I'm poor - but even I found some money to contribute to keep GDF alive!

I actually think the actors all do a terrible job in all the recent movies. In fact, the only actor that does a great job for Lucas in any Star Wars is Harrison Ford.

jar jar - what a mistake.
And the speeder race is almost a clip for clip rip of the Ben Hur chariot race. Most disappointing.

I don't remember the second one at all. Makes me wonder if I've seen it.

But I will probably go to a movie theatre to see this one.
