Any fans? Just noticed that their single is the top overall download at iTunes right now; they definitely got a different sound this time around, but from what I hear the consensus isn't that the whole album sounds like this, but just that it has gone towards a more vocal approach. And they just started their first set of shows for their tour, and according to Rolling Stones it's awesome, and if I don't get to see them live this year I'm going to be pissed (any lucky bastids out there?).

dude, i am so pancaking stoked!!! the first time that they played the new single on the radio i was on the interstate on the way to school and i found myself going like freaking 90 miles an hour.

i've been waiting since the fragile came out and when may the 3rd comes around i'm gonna spend all night just sitting and listening to the album...

and as for the sound, i don't like 'the hand that feeds' as much as the other stuff, but I still love it and i'm just excited to get a new album...

Yeah, I was kind of apprehensive at first when I heard it, but it's got a hook that can choke a horse and it grows on you like pretty much everything they do. Like I said, I heard that it's more lyrical this time around (unfortunately few to no instrumentals), but for those who like the old sound still, just an FYI at their first live show theyjustplayed, March of the Pigs was three songs in to the set (and later Closer, Head Like A Hole, Starf'ckers, and Terrible Lie), and I must say that is awesome!

Just saw the video for it on their site (!)...Reznor certainly isn't the skinny dude he was back in '94, he's got some "pipes";he looks like he can kick Danzig's ass!

Is this newest release more akin to the stuff they did in the 90s? I didn't care for their last album, nothing grabbed me at all. Back then, I was hard pressed NOT to hear a Nine Inch Nail song I didn't like.

I didn't even know that they were still around, when was the last time they put out an album?
Side not: Reuber1, you stoked about the new QOTSA?

Match in the gas tank, boom boom.

I haven't hear anything from them in a while, either. What's there new stuff like?

LimedDesign

It's got more of a drum driven beat thats more, erm, i hate to say it, but pop like. but it's a good beat, very catchy, and still NIN.

and reznor's last 'official album' release was the fragile, which came out i think in 1999, so it's been freakin five years. but of course they've released like four other live and remixed albums since then, not to mention the cuts out of the fragile that appeared on the Still disc.

Question 1: Yup, Fragile is pretty much the last album they did, along with the And All That Could Have Been Live CD with the "Still" bonus CD (both are awesome).

Question 2: Hell yeah, I already got it! Although Rated R has always been my favorite, rivaling many of my favorite NIN stuff, this new one is really good, especially with Mark Lanegan doing vocs on some tracks again--awesome voice, especially on "Lullabies". "Burn the Witch" is probably my favorite right now, though it's competing with "The Hand that Feeds". Blender magazine only gave it a 3 out of 5 stars, saying that it was pretty much old hat...I say "SO?"

Holy sh!t, I just heard NIN played "Burn" on their live show...

I got free BSP to go see them, not sure if I am gonna be able to make it.
The only thing that sucks is that Renzor can be a whinny bitch sometimes, hopefully he wont be that way this time i meet him

Yeah, he can b!tch a lot, and that gets annoying (though I do plenty myself) which is why I stop listening to that stuff every once in a while and switch into QOTSA.

oh, what's this about the Reznorbeing a whiney bitch? Does this having something to do with his relationship with the Manson camp?

Manson's a knob...he's just pissed because Reznor's got his old bassist Twiggy, who has always been more interested in Nails anyway.I can't stand Marilyn Manson...his best stuff was produced by Reznor, but since Mechanical Animals all of Manson's stuff has sounded the same. Manson's more interested in his fame, not the music he puts out.

Now another song is up..."The Line Begins to Blur" is available on iTunes. For those worry about "The Hand That Feeds" pop-ness, this one's a little better...slower paced.

BUMP. HA HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

Anyways, this CD just came out today and it kicks all sorts of rear-end. If you even didn't like their old stuff, you'll like this. Very heavy but extremely catchy...and The Hand that Feeds is probably my least favorite track and that's saying quite a bit.

EDIT: I supposed if I listened to Radiohead I'd figure that out. For some reason I have zero Radiohead CDs.

One of my favorites on there. At first when I heard that song I sounded off a "What the hell?", but that one definitely grows on you. Pretty much all tracks are awesome and it's hard to pick one standoffish one, but when I'm pissed off I'm sure "You Know What You Are" will be played--LOUDLY. I got "Beside you in Time" going on right now. Extra trippy. "Right Where It Belongs" is absolutely wonderful. I want to get a copy of "Home" though, which was only on the vinyl.

The whole dualdisc thing irritates me, though. Oh well, "it" happens.

Silence04

yeah, "beside you in time" is awesome! thats one of my favs i think, next to "everyday is exactly the same" and "sunspots"

i didn't realize the vinyl had an extra song, i forgot to have them order it when i picked up my cd of it.

Listening to it online right now. I didn't care for the first song - but the rest of the album rocks - definitely NIN. :)
