I found the American Design Awards (www.americandesignawards.com (http://www.americandesignawards.com)) a few months ago and I really think you guys should check it out. I have been submitting design pieces for their annual and monthly contests, and unlike the rest of the rest of the bunch, they are very fair and purposeful.

I agree. There are so many lame "awards" sites out there that aren't worth the domain name they are under, but ADA is among the top three or four, eventhough they are fairly new. Dont miss their Annuals in August, it should be a blast!

Welcome Jenny. I wish you the best with your design. If you want an opinion, run your website past me before going to American Design Awards (http://www.americandesignawards.com)... I've been known to have a good critical eye! Just a friendly suggestion!

Run it by the Showcase and welcome to the forum. We have a bunch of trained eye vets running a muck in here.

But I don't like that you have to pay. I know we all talk about how not getting paid doesn't make sense, but in my opinion, any supposedly subjective awards program that requires an entrance fee is a paradox.

[quote]Except no one has really heard of "NCCA Design" (for the exception of a few rookies in here) and they not only charge you $150 a year for a "membership" but the prize is a whopping $500 that goes to whoever gets the most votes... Anytime they let regular people vote for a design piece, you gotta know there is something fishy... who are these people and what are their credentials? http://www.graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/nono.gif
Actually the prize doesn't go to the highest vote getter... nor does it go to the ones receiving the highest rating...
It says there on the site that the ratings determine whether you get into the various tournaments or not... which are then judged only by members.

I entered a piece in the 2004 American Graphic Design Awards sponsored by Graphic Design USA, in may and my work was chosen and will be printed in there Design annual in December.
There was about 10,000 entries and 12% were chosen to be highlighted in the annual. Kind cool, I use the past annuals all the time for inspiration... it will be cool to use my own work for inspiration next year!
