Any Christian Designers in this forum? Just wondering if you incorporate any of your theology/faith into your work and how you do it.
I guess you can say I'm a christian at heart but my actions a screwy sometimes. My Spirit and Flesh have an ongoing battle.
But when you design you have to cater to your audience so the customer determins what the final piece would look like.

Do you ever create any Christian inspired art?

Sometimes I ask god to help me put a good design together, to give me his spiritual guidance in helping me create wonderful things for people.
I wonder why he doesn't answer.
Then I realize it's because I drink, have sex with whoever I can, take his name in vain repeatedly, believe in evolution not creation, and disagree with priests banging little kids.

I am a Christian, ah yes Benjo - the ever present battle between the spirit and the flesh.. a battle I am all to familiar with...My faith influences mostly my ethics and business practices. I wouldn't say my design so much. If I can give the client the benefit of the doubt concerning a particular dispute or speedbump I do.
I haven't done a whole lot of Christian art, but I proposed an idea to my church. They want to do something in our sanctuary - the room is very tall and has only minimal ornamentation and seems very vacant. I was thinking of painting a mural that would tell a story, interweaving the miracles of Jesus.. Now if only it were wet plaster I could say that I painted frescoes! Wouldn't that be cool! - Michelangelo anyone? http://graphicdesignforum.com/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Magnus!!!
I'm trying to figure out why it is so important to incorporate your faith in your work? I can understand trying to relate to christian clients and cater to them, but that is a discriminitive issue (not in a bad way). I can't see any non-denominational company appreciating art with a christian flair.

i did a body care product line once and for each product name i used a religious term... figured since more than half of america is christian, theres a better chance of it selling more...

i wouldn't necessarily call myself a christian designer. i am a designer who just happens to be a christian. as such, i believe we are called to do our work at the best of our ability. we should expect no less.
i am afraid that the 'christian' community as a whole has fallen behind in the world of visual communication. we've become complacent and have settled for mediocrity in our work and work ethic. things need to change. i'm trying to change that attitude in myself and work.

I'm a Christian, and very rarely do I find that fact being present in my design work. I guess there just generally is not room for it. The fact that I won't do any work for a company I don't morally agree with would be the only thing I can think of.
Since our work is for a bland, faceless, opionless, everybody's winner/nobody's a loser society, actually putting human emotion into commercial art would be quite a bold, risky idea.

I hear George Michael's 'Faith' every now and then when I am designing... does that count?

I'm not Christian, but almost all my art is Christian inspired (I was raised Roman Catholic, and it gave me what is often referred to as a Catholic Block). I have done designs for Christian organizations before for one of my employers.
