I always forget key combos for special characters. Anyone know how to type a zero with a slash, or any other way to display a 0 as a zero, and not a letter?
Is there any list or resource for MAC/PC key combos? PCs have Character Map program, do Macs?

With Macs, you can usually hold in 'Option' and press a certain key to make symbols.
If you happen to be using InDesign, there is an 'Insert Glyphs' option under the type that gives you all those weird symbols. Maybe Quark might have something like that too, but I don't know off the top of my head.

KeyCaps in OS9
In OSX there is a drop down palette you can put in your menubar but I'm not at the X machine at the moment to tell you how to do it. You can just drag and drop from that.

Ah, OSX is called Character Palette.
System Preferences>International>Input menu>check off Character Palette and Keyboard viewer. Make sure 'show input menu in menu bar' is checked at the bottom of the menu pane. A little flag will appear in your menubar and is a drop down menu.

We bought some G5s at work about 6 months ago and it came with a free version of Art Directors Toolkit (which is normally $30). If you can get your hold on it, it's nice because it helps out with a lot of little things from day to day such as special characters, text preview and one of my favorites that I occasionally mess with which it lets you type in RGB or CMYK values and finds close PMS matches to that color (as well as some otehr features, but the ones I listed are the ones I use quite a bit.)
