When I export to PDF in Quark 5 + Mac OSX 10.3.8 (using Distiller 6.01) the distiller progress window disappears behind the open quark file. I then have no way of monitoring how long it has to go (which can be a long time!). I can't select the distiller in the Dock either.
Has anyone any ideas on how to get around this / stop it happening?
Cheers!

Try printing to Postscript then distill. Sounds like you are trying to use Distiller in OSX and Quark 5 in Classic. Can get messy sometimes.
PD is a grande format digital print dude. His advice/opinions may not apply to the 4color/offset/web world of printing

You can go into your Quark Preferances, under PDF and select 'Create postscript for later distilling'.
This will create your postscript file. Then open up Distiller and drag and drop the postscript file into it...then you can watch its progress.

D-Zine.... I used the 'create postscript for later distilling' option but, rather than dragging the postscript file over the distiller window, I set up a watched folder which meant I was free to carry on working with Quark while Distiller chugged away happily in the background.
Many thanks for the tip! (Thanks also to PrintDriver!)

D'oh! Forgot to tell you about the watched folder! I use that here too. Glad we could help!

Yep! They have been a godsend to me since we switched presses a few years ago and went the PDF route!
