for a survey on what I use and how important it is. It ended up being Quark (he told me at the end). During the survey I told him how I was a Quark lover and then switched to InDesign and haven't looked back.

sounds like to me that quark is in trouble.

I wouldn't say desperation, it seems like they actually want to make their product better. When I was going to school I used to work in market research and just about every company you could think of did it. From liquor and CancerSticks to microwavable foods and cleaning products. Competition spurs development. They finally realized there is competition and they need to make some improvements to the software to compete.

Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.

I use both equally depending on what my client/printers needs. Some of my clients/printers prefer files in Quark, some like InDesign. /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/thumbsup.gif

I also still use Quark 4.1 /DesktopModules/dotNetBB/emoticons/wub.gif — it does everything I need.
