20 Minutes into the interview (literally 1 minute away from Mr. Bob) and my mobile credit is empty, with an almost-dead battery. I want to ring, but can't.

Anyways, the conversation when he rings me:

Ulysses - "Hello."
Mr. Bob - "Hi, It's Mr. Bob here."
Ulysses - "Hi Mr. Bob, I seem to be having trouble finding the place."
Mr. Bob - "I'm afraid I have somewhere to be in 10 minutes."
Ulysses - "I'm on road X"
Mr. Bob - "It's okay" [puts phone down]

Turns out road x actually is 1 minute down from the road from the place I needed to be. Now, I understand that not calling Mr. Bob to let him know what was going on is very unprofessional, but ... I simply couldn't find the place even with several stops for directions.

Just thought I'd share this little story with y'all.

ooh... that's frustrating! condolences Ulysses...

any chance that it can be rescheduled? With better directions given next time?

Found the place finally, but here's what I'm doing (afterall, it turned out to be 1 minute up the road ... literally):

My replacement phone battery and battery/charger combo is already in the post, and I'm topping it up with credit as soon as. I'm going to call Mr. Bob in the morning and appologies for missing the interview, thank him for considering me for the position, and offer to forward my particulars onto him at a later date.

Other than that, if nothing comes off of it, at least I won't be working for someone that just puts the phone down in that manner, particularly having initiated the phonecall.

he was pissed off, ulysses. i might do the same thing, given the right mixture of stress and ego...

maybe this is just the universe's way of letting you know that today was not the day for you to meet this man...oh, and to leave the house earlier. ;)

I can understand him being ticked off ... but still ... to just hang up like that. We'll see what happens when I call him in the morning.

They have already filled the vacancy (so they say). Not to worry, they already told me they loved my work (it always help to lap those kind of comments up - so as to keep you on a positive approach), so it's a case of sorting my damned phone out, and impress the next person.

Isn't it great when you can take advantage of a bad outcome!?
