Im thinking of a power mac with a 20" monitor, i am starting a graphic design course and was thinking long term would my graphics work be better if i had a bigger monitor like apples 23" instead??

also would a 128mb graphics card be ok for this, or should i stretch out for 256mb cards, or are they just for movie makeing and games ext..

any info will be very helpfull
thanks

I just went from a 21inch crt to the 23 inch apple HD monitor and it is WAY WAY better!

what about the graphics card? i guess i will be doing 2d graphics but im not really sure.... thinking long term should i just save to hell and get the 30" and justify it to myself by saying at least i wont have to buy another monitor again?

I'm thinking about buying an LCD monitor (from fencing money) to cheer myself up today, I'm looking at a 17-inch Samsung with DVI. It's not for graphics though, it's for my gaming PC downstairs.

You may laugh but I use a 17" widescreen G5 iMac for all my design work. It fits a 2 page spread quite nicely on the screen. A bigger screen would be nice though. What I want is a G5 tower with dual processors of course with the 20" apple display. I really don't see the point of getting a 30" when your just starting out unless your doing some serious work, like editing movies etc or designing video games.

Bigger is definately better...I'm workin' on a lil iMac with a 12" monitor or whatever it is...something small. It blows, but until I get some grip to upgrade to a new Mac, I'm stuck for now.

yup if you can afford it, go for it. Currently i have 2 17" monitors hooked up, dual display is pretty good too, but if i had the cash i'd get a bigger monitor.

Bigger is not only better, but clearer (depending on the quality of the monitor).

I have a couple of 19" CRTs running at 2560 x 1024, and I struggle to fit everything into the workspace. I could increase the resolution to 3200 x 1200, but I know it'd do my eyesight no good in the long-term.

As for graphics memory, I run fine with 32MB driving these dual monitors (then again, I only do 2D, and don't play games).

Lord knows I want the 30" but my wife would kill me one months income mysteriously went missing and to add to that mystery a 30" monitor that I can't hide would be sitting on my desk.

Na, man I can't get away with it.
