If anyone has upgraded to OSX Tiger I'd like to here your feed back. I'm definitely going to make the change soon from Jaguar....(I know stop laughing:) ) and i'd like to here your comments or any known bugs or problems as well as positive feed back.

Thanx!

As I said in another thread....if you're upgrading from 10.2 Jaguar, this will be a substantial upgrade. On the other hand, Tiger really doesn't seem a whole lot different than Panther.

I find it kind of funny that a search engine (Spotlight) is the most talked about feature, but it is pretty nice, but not too useful to me at home. However, Spotlight would be a really, really great thing to have at work (we're still on OS 9).

The Dashboard is pretty cool and handy, interested to see what kind of widgets they come out with.

I still hate the folder labeling procedure (started with Panther), they need to have something where the folder itself is colored, very annoying.

Not directly related to Tiger, I noticed that in order to install iMovie and iPhoto from iLife on my eMac CDs, you have to install the OS X installation on those CDs first (Panther). Very annoying, because I did a complete wipe of the hard drive. Yet you can still install Garageband and iDVD seperately from the CD. That doesn't make much sense. I'm either going to have to buy a new iLife CD (at least it's an upgrade) or I'm going to try dragging iMovie and iPhoto off my laptop (still running 10.3) onto my eMac.

Safari 2.0 is indeed faster, and the RSS feature is kind of nice.

Speed doesn't seem too different from Panther, but my eMac is peppy to begin with. Interested to see how much more it perks up on my 400mhz G3 laptop. If you're coming from Jaguar, then you'll see a big difference.

It's worth noting that when you install Tiger and boot into it for the very first time, the computer seems slow and bogged down. That's because it's indexing the files for Spotlight, give the computer a little time to finish that task up and all will be well.

Soon as my copy gets here and i manage to have time to install it, i will give a report in on it. Probably also write a review of it for Designer Today Magazine as well.

its got some really useful features...worth the upgrade. dashboard is freaking awesome. and a neat feature that for your Printer menu, they added a "competed jobs" list so it shows what has finished printing instead of just dissapearing when the job is already sent.
and suprisingly tiger seems to run faster than any earlier versions.
but i would certainly wait to upgrade until there are some updates/patches, as with any new software there are some bugs that need to be worked out.

I'm still on Jaguar at home, too Tyger. I feel your pain. Definitely gonna upgrade, there.

Thanx Silence, DY , we're a rare breed of OSX folk, but as silence suggested i'm going to wait a bit for updates and such. Honestly I luv Jaguar, It's been good to me ever since.

Tiger is running good for me on both of my machines.
Spotlight is saving me LOTS of time here at my full-time job.
Dashboard is cool.
The new CD/DVD burning feature is cool.

I have noticed my Illustrator and Photoshop bombing more often though. Not fun when you are an hour into a composite. And I "Save As" A LOT!

It's worth the money to buy it! Or at least the companies money to buy it!
