I created a mockup for a client. She loved it. I love it. Today I began to cut it up and make it work, and came across a small problem. I think I got my font usage backwards. Normally, it is common to use a sans-serif font as the headline font, or title of some sort, as it stands out much more than a serif. Then use a serif on bodies of text as it is easier to read. I did it all backwards. I am using serif fonts for titles, and sans-serif for bodies of text. Is it really that bad? Can I get away with it?

The site is missing all the content, but the structure is there.
Note. Site is not tested in IE yet. I am sure that it doesn't work correctly there anyways :(
You're just a rebel ecsyle :)

That's what I like to hear. The brutal, honest truth :D
I am a rebel. Going against the grain. Driving from the passenger seat. That's how I roll.
heh. So, I guess it looks fine then?
The text in the title under the name looks a little pinched but I like it.

Agreed. I will fix that up. Thanks :)

I think it looks fine, ecsyle. Very clean and minimal ... I don't see any rebeliousness, but that is why the design is so clean and clear. It should really help to bring focus to the photographs that you introduce to the site.
The only quibble I have (beign the fussy blighter I am), is with the top/botom spacing you've used for the title_ gifs. I'd even them, myself.

That makes sense. Ill check it out. Typography is a pain. I am just now dipping into the world of type. It is definitely a cool study though :)

Actually, you did it correctly. I always use sans-serif (Verdana, Arial) for body text. I use serif (Palatino, Times, Times New Roman) for headlines. I hate seeing Times New Roman for body text online. It is a print font.

Oh. So much for being a rebel, hehe.
I have been under the impression that large bodies of text, when in sans-serif font faces, tend to start running together, and are just unclear as a whole. I guess since this site isn't going to have a whole lot of text though, I should be fine.
Thanks for the comments, as always, its much appreciated :)
it's the opposite for the web. reading on a monitor is very unlike reading text on paper. sans-serif is the way to go! :)
if it works it works
Guidelines are only thier for amore successfull design.
If you can achieve success without then by all means do so.
I think it works quit well.
