What does this logo need? It is for a Business that sells coffee beans. They want "open hands, & Coffee Beans" in their logo. Any help or ideas would be great.

Not to be harsh, but:

1. New font—something classy, yet unique/less cliche
2. The hands are in the wrong spots (reverse them or perhaps flip vertically)
3. Ditch the coffee bean duotone. it will be difficult to reproduce at small sizes and mucks up the general design—it'd go with lineart for coffee bean imagery to match the hands, maybe coffee beans spilling out of a sack, into the hands perhaps
4. Try to make the type placement a little more interesting, a little less predictable.

Good start!

what delete said.

try making the logo in black and white only. if that works, then add colour. i also advocate construction paper and scissors, plasticine and pipe cleaners as creative exercises. forget the clip art and photographs. start thinking crazy and then reign it in to something more practical - it works every time.

:goodluck:

Yeah, I agree with the other posters...
First, flip the hands so the thumbs are on the outside. Cup your own hands together in front of you as if someone was going to pour something into them and you'll see what I mean.
Second, way too much detail in the coffee beans...keep in mind that a logo will be used on everything including business cards where it will need to be reduced considerably. I think, in your current design, all the detail will be lost.

Try bolder typestyles. Take a look at coffee packaging in your supermarket. Try to get a feel for the colors they use. Maybe if you find a suitable font and colors, you won't have to be so "literal" and get away without using actual hands or maybe you could use stylized hands.

Close your eyes and think of a cup of coffee...what color? what smell? what pops into your head. Do some rough sketches, fool around with some different things.

Hope this helps.

If you are really set on using the coffee beans, how about hands reaching out of the bag of coffee of beans, as if offering and enticing you to try it. Right now the hand have nothing to do with anything else there.

And yes, the pile of beans with out-reaching hands COULD be a monochrome silouette, with semi-heavy outlines separateing the elements.

I'm a real art nouveau/art deco period fan, so I might look for some organic, curvy way to 'render' it. After all, coffee 'flows'.

Sorry, this isn't working for me either.

Maybe an old time coffee grinder pouring out grounds to cupped open hands.
Or hands holding a heap of beans.

How about enlarge a single coffee bean to be your background shape?

This is a tough one, but stretch yourself, Unc's right get away from clip art, use shapes to start with.
