My PITA client whom I inevitably wind up posting about here once a month decided this month, she wanted to see what artists at the publications she advertises in could do with her ad. I didn't really mind, if she liked it I might be losing some business but gaining some sanity.

In the process tho, she lied to me and lied to someone I know, and yelled at an artist friend who works at one of those publications. I spent a good day sorting out the he-said/she-said BS.

Anyway, she calls me this morning. She got her ads in from other places, and HATES THEM. Begging me to do her ads again.

I don't know whether to feel smug or cry....

Two words Grey: rate increase.

Just think, some people go insane for free. At least you're getting paid.

argh. that sucks, gg.

if she is that bad, you may consider feeling smug, and then telling her that you don't have the time to take the work back?

Jeff Fisher has what he calls a 'client stupidity tax'. This sounds like a good time to adopt it.

My work has a "Customer Aggrivation Charge" (doesn't show up on the receipt) whenever a client becomes a pain in the ass timewaster with the salesmen. Funny, that charge never goes up when my time is wasted....

Bonehead tax sounds good. How do you tack it on if it's never been there before? And if they ask what BT stands for - ????

I think that most of OUR distributors are calling it a fuel surcharge, lol.

feel smug. and raise your rates.

Absolutely, raise your rates or add a surcharge for putting her back in the schedule. Even retailers charge a restocking fee. :D
