'Spectacles, Tesiticles, wallet, and watch' Austin Powers.
This quote is inspiring to me this week, because it reminds me I need to be prepared. I know we've done this before, but lets give a rundown of how to prepare for an interview, just wondering if anyone has some new ideas. The one that I have this week is for a layout type of job, entry level, 'not very creative' according to the man I talked to, but valuable experience and a way to break into the field for me, I'm really hopeful and I believe I'm well prepared. So lets review the jobsearch and interview process for myself and those graduating this semester. /emoticons/cheers.gif
My plan:
Bring in my Quark Work:
One full Booklet,
A couple of brochures,
A corporate identity (shown on computer as I dont have a print up of it)
Maybe something else I can find....
Some of the actual design work
and as far as dress goes, I plan on wearing Blue and black, sound cool?
BTW wish me luck I've been looking for a while entry level positions are hard to find

sounds good, the one suggestion that I give to everyone that landed me my dream job is this: Right when you leave the interview, go home, and type up a thank you letter, and send one to each person that was in your interview with you. Out of 300+ candidates applying for a job at Clear Channel, I was the only one to send a thank you letter....and I found out later that was the reason they hired me.

Hummm this job sound familiar. /emoticons/wink.gif
All good things you said. Also make sure your portfolio is nice and clean...ORGANIZED. I have a VERY good idea of what this guy is looking for. Be cool and yourself. He's a great guy but will ask you questions and be very thorough.
Be on time!
Follow up with a thank you and SPELL HIS NAME RIGHT! It will get you points!
Good luck my friend.

Also... don't pretend that you can do more than you know how. Some people can get away with a little bit (and then frantically learn it before starting), but don't talk well beyond your capabilities or you risk falling on your face and making an ass of yourself. Instead, talk about your familiarity with the item in question (if applicable) and reinforce your ability to learn (if applicable). I think most (MOST) people who are interviewing (not the HR people, mind you) can pick-up on potential, even if your portfolio doesn't have professional (I don't mean professional-looking, I mean actually published) work.
The end.
Of my rambling.
Good morning.
In a goofy mood.
:) April
