Morning all,

I need to re-create this file (attached). It's vector bevelled text but I can't work out how its done.

I've uploaded the file as a JPG as i can't upload eps files.

Anyone know?

Cheers

you have to think of bevels as just layers, try doing the black type, then making a copy and increasing the stroke of the copied text a couple points. Create an outline of the type with the increased stroke, and apply a gradient to that layer, drop it behind your black text and that should give you a close enough version.... thats all i got, its late..im tired...

The blend group technique gives you a gradation, but not much control on bevel or shading direction.

The thing is to use CS's Effect/3D /Extrude and Bevel. Postion: Front (all axis at zero).

Perspective: 0.
Depth: whatever.
Bevel: probably the rounded one to match this
Height: whatever.
Surface: whatever.

More option section:
Ambient: probably zero.
Shading colour: whatever, but black in this case

Once you've got the extrusion to your liking, then you can expand appearance if you want, to make it into an exportable, more universal vector EPS.

Here's a sample.

This is pretty close, you didn't state whether you "need" to create it in vector or raster. Here's an easy photoshop raster version.

Drop shadow
Blend mode: normal
Opacity: 100%
Distance: 0
Spread: 0
Size: 1

Bevel & Emboss
Style: inner
Technique: chisel hard
Depth: 100%
Size: 3
Soften: 0

Stroke
Size: 1
Position: inside
Blend mode: normal
Opacity: 100%
Color: C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=0 (better known as white)

This is a probably a futile attempt to help after rereading your post it sounds like you want vector.
