Font Help?

Hey sorry to post again but does anyone by anychance know what font was used for the Movie Titanic?.. not the Bigh Thick Metal lettering, the other one used for the Classic "Titanic" logo??... its a long shot but I guess its worth asking here??

Try "Trajan" it is the one on the movie poster I just pulled up.

There are really no 'free' versions of licensed fonts, just pirated versions.

I don't know what you mean by regular or pro. There is a Trajan Regular and a Trajan Bold.

I've just read your font thread…
Although I can't be certain without knowing where you're currently looking at the Regular and Pro versions of Trajan, I would guess that the Regular will be a standard truetype or postscript font and the Pro will be an Opentype font. If you're wondering what the difference is check out the link below.

If you're simply using the font for a small amount of layout I wouldn't go to the extra expense of an OpenType. I hope this helps ;)

Thanks, so Opentype lets me do LowerCase as well as Upper??, cause the Regular and Bold versions just show all upper case letters?

Trajan only has upper case letters. It's an old "monument" font. You can get large caps and small caps but no lower case. Trajan Pro is simply a different artistic 'take' on the traditional Trajan font. Just like Trajan Charlemagne.

Have you ever really read your EULA, the legal contract you are entering into when you load a font?

I do agree a font designer should profit from his work in some fashion but like the design world there should be font developer testing to be sure the fonts you get, even from the reputible foundries, will work in most rips, among other things.

Most of you (and even I) would consider this site a pirate but he does present an interesting argument and a lot of data (which could be contrived - if someone wants to check into it this would make a great research topic for a college paper!).
The alphabet is not copywritable. What is true is the only thing about fonts that is technically copywritable is the 'software' it's written into, and that only recently. That's why licenses are used. No ©, ™, or patent number....

And the early digitized fonts (and even some today) are copied from old typesetting fonts. So who owns the 'copyright' on those? If the old typesetting fonts are public domain, slapping a legally binding license on it makes it yours???

Seriously?, thats wierd cause I have book hre and they've used Trajan in it, its an official Titanic book, but some of the text has lower case??... I doubt they would have used two seperate fonts in the same sentences just to get this effect or would they??
