Hey Guys and Girls,
Does anyone know where I could purchase UPC codes (EAN UCC12) for products in vector graphics? I have heard about an site that sells them for like $20... :rolleyes:

I have found places to get software... but does the software produce a vector file or a tiff/jpg/gif?

That I don't know about. We paid them to create the barcode for us and email us the .eps file. It was like $19 (about 3 years ago).
I make barcodes all the time for our products at my work. I use elfrings barcode (checksum) generating software to generate the complete barcode - as its an algorithm that creates the checksum.

That will allow you to make your own barcodes with the fonts it loads to your system. I then make a barcode in illustrator, convert to paths and save an eps.
UPCs originate with a company called the Uniform Code Council (UCC) (http://www.uc-council.org/).
A manufacturer applies to the UCC for permission to enter the UPC system. The manufacturer pays an annual fee for the privilege. In return, the UCC issues the manufacturer a six-digit manufacturer identification number and provides guidelines on how to use it.
If you don't have your own membership with the UCC you can find other companies to generate you a barcode within their membership, to which they will license you a barcode. If that is the case most service bureaus will offer this service as well as printing your materials.

I have everything set with the UCC... the problem I am running into is that we have a product approved for a vendor and they need complete mockup's today for a planogram... I have the mockup's done but generating the three bar codes as eps I am having trouble... I have some software that can generate the correct bar code how do I convert the jpg or tiff to a vector file?
