Hi All,

I am creating a 75 page product guide that will be printed a few times a year. My boss wants to purchase a printer, "one they'd use in a printshop", and I am not really sure where to start. I am assuming there is somewhat of an industry standard printer. Money doesnt seem to be an issue, as long as it prints a nice quality. Most will be in b/w but there are about 20 ads in full color. Thanks!

Rob

im thinking like 500 initially, then 200 or so 4 times a year.

If you want fast, don't need SUPER high quality and need colour, look at the Xerox 7300

It's an LED printer, not a laser, but it's pretty much the same thing. As fast as a copier in both black and white and colour. It'll also do double-sided prints so you don't have to collate, and it supports 11x17" if you want to saddle stitch it.

There is no "Industry Standard " printer. He's probably thinking of a press, which for this application is not a good idea. Or a cigital copier - which is overkill for this application.

I would have thought it would be easier to send it to a offset printer?! for 500 copies which i consider the min. for that print process.
