How to animate text?

Is there a way to simply animate text?

This can easily be done in Flash. Try this link Swishmax (http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=products&product=max)

THis program can do some pretty cool effects with text and more with a touch of a button, if you don't mind spending a few bucks...but very affordable!

Yeah, javascript is close to the only option for regular text. Of course there's Flash and animated gifs also, but for HTML text it's JS.
