How can I make a photo look sheerly gold in Photoshop?? I have placed an example link here (www.history.org) for your viewing. As you can see, History.org has created this look using blue coloring vs. gold on their images. I look forward to your answer.

Karen

Hi Karen, welcome to the forum. The easiest way to do this is to first go to your image menu and convert it to grayscale then in the same menu change it to doutone. When the dialog box comes up select monotone. then click the color swatch which will bring up the color pallete and select any color you wish. http://home.comcast.net/~rnick9/koolsmiley.gif

This is related to a similar post earlier this week --- two other methods to try:

1) Use a 'Solid Color' adjustment layer and set the layer to 'color' mode. Click to adjust the colour. This will give you the range from white through the colour to black.

2) Use 'Gradient Map' adjustment layer. This gives you complete control over mapping the colour distribution through editing this layers gradient.

I love it when people come on and ask a question and then never even bother to return to see if it was answered. It really makes you want to take the effort to answer them. I can see by the original posters profile that she hasn't visited the forum since this question was posted. :(

that - unfortunately - seems to happen a lot here. :(

but it is possible that the thread will help someone else who has the same question.

Is that too optomistic for a Monday? ;)

i'm a photoshop user gone illustrator. i'm a graphic designer because it's a labor of love. i'm not good, i'm not great, but i've picked up things here and there that make me better at what i do.

now, i saw this post and noticed that someone asked a question and never bothered to come back to see if the question had been answered.

as disheartening as this is, please please please don't stop answering questions! people like me are always looking for things to help us along, and though we may not be part of a structured community we definitely appreciate that you answered the question. lots of other people are looking. at least i hope they are.

i'd like to thank you guys for the wealth of knowledge that's here on this site.

So come on back, prankmaster. Perhaps there's something you can shed some light on as well.

That's what community's all about.

oh, i'll definitely be back.
and if there's ever a question i can answer, i will ... at this point though i'll be doing a lot of reading just to catch up...wouldn't wanna post a question somebody has already answered ... forums tend to hate that :)

we'll be talking.
