My kick-off: How Take studio style photos of your everyday objects.


Without access to clean studio lighting or backdrops, you can go outdoors on a bright but completely overcast day, when the sky has no detail at all.
Set the subject on a large white board or card, on top of a table (or on the floor), and take photos from lots of different angles, changing depth of field, exposure times, being aware of what is in focus and what is not, and use a tripod if you have one.

The sky and reflected uplight from the card will give you all round diffuse light, much like a pro studio lighting for this kind of subject.

I just set this up, the light is OK, not overcast but the sun has just set, so no direct light source, just diffuse from the sky and surroundings:
