This one is just escaping me. I'm going to stop being stubborn and ask for help.
I am designing a notepad in InDesign CS and I want to put a pushpin into the
design. Basically just a circle with some bevel and emboss. Something like this:

I can create it in Photoshop using the vector shapes and putting the desired effects on, but then I when I put it in InDesign it's pixelated. Is there a way I keep the edge clean? Using Illustrator or a Photoshop clipping mask or something? I created one in illustrator but it just doesn't have the same look, but it does have the vector edges.

So I either need a better way to make one in illustrator or a way to have clean edges on my photoshop one.

I know as soon as someone replies I will kick myself, because it was so easy.

It might just be the way you are viewing it in InDesign. Try going up to View > Display Performance > High Quality display. Sometimes when I bring any kind of image into InDesign it looks pixelated because the display performance isn't set high enough. I try to leave it set on Typical Display though, because when you set it higher pictures take longer to load. I hope this helps... I'm not sure what else could cause it to look like that.

And it's also easy enough to paste this inside an ID-drawn circle to get the sharp edge of a perfect vector clipping. Though, it's only a couple minute job to construct something like this completely in vector too.

I used your idea Broacher even though I didn't want to. It worked fine, but they didn't want it. They wanted more of a push pin. so back to the drawing board I went. After reading some of the other posts I came across the one about created 3d text, and it got me thinking. I went into Illustrator CS and made an outline. I then use Effect>3D>Revolve, and this is what I got. I'm impressed and it's vectorized so you have clean lines. I don't have to worry about not having 3ds max to make 3d artwork. I have illustrator.

I am thinking about putting something in the the techniques thread so others can use this awesome tool.
