I get the impression that CS2 (specifically Photoshop & Illustrator) are really pushing my (PC) machine to the limit.

In CS I had Photoshop & Illustrator running at the same time with big files open in both programs and switching between programs and copy pasting was ok - but with CS2 i can not even have both programs running at the same time without taking a coffee break. Not to speak of opening files in each one of them trying to copy anything.

Well it worked pretty good on my P4, 2.8GHz, 640 MB RAM, Radeon XT 9600 but i have to stick with CS for now until i can afford a double processor w/HT and 2 GB RAM - so I am wondering if anybody had some thoughts about this.

I'm running an unimpressive 512RAM 1.5Ghz G4 right now with the entire CS2 open, version cue and bridge included. In Indesign I have a 40 page layout open, a 53 layer vehicle wrap layout in PS (with 5 other PSDs open holding all the separate panels I am using for that wrap), and 8 windows open in Illustrator.

Everything is still zippy. You using a pirated copy of CS2? Otherwise I would tend to blame the P4.

AMD Athlon 1800+
512MB of supafast RAM
80gig 7200rpm Western Digital HD

Photoshop CS2 runs a hell of a lot better on my machine than 6 or 7 did. In fact I thought that I was going to take a performance hit since my box is so underpowered but it actually feels like an *upgrade*. I've had Version Cue, Bridge, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop open all at the same time without any majore performance issues. It's kind of eerie.

Ok ok - you are right guys. I had a problem during the installation that's why it caused the delays. I reinstalled it now and it works like a charm - like you mentioned on my 1.8 GHz w 512 RAM it's actually working better than with the CS.

Thanks for your feedback!
