Graphic Design Associations

Hey folks. I'm new to the forum and I have a question. I live in Canada and I was wondering if other Canadian folks here are members of any graphic design associations like the Society of Graphics Designers of Canada. Are these organizations worth joining and what have you gained from them? I've been debating if it's worth while and I don't know anyone else who is a member so I thought I would ask.

there are some Canadian folks here who are involved with the RGD in Ontario... if you do a forum search you might find some info.

I personally believe that it is worthwhile organization and plan on applying in a few years after i really get together some clients and portfolio pieces.
Right now I have a few, I want more. That and I want some more pieces in there.
Other than that. I do not really know what you gain from them other than some prestige, respect. As well has having that organization behind you. Which may be quite worthwhile.

Thanks for your thoughts Jeff92. Your comments are helpful. I think it also looks good for clients to see that you belong to the association. Maybe shows more credibility.
