Hi folks,

Need some help here on standard printing sizes for graphic design projects:

Obviously full page print magazine ads are 8.5x11. I also figured out that 11x17' is a standard poster size.

My question is what are the standard dimensions used in design for :

1. flyers?
2. brochures?
3. 1/4 ads for magazine pages
4. 1/2 ads for magazine pages

Are flyers and brochures really the same thing?

Can someone help this confused boy?

Thanks.

flyers 8.5x11
Brochures 11x8.5 trifold
most every magazine will have different size restrictions for there ads.

Flyers for me are flat 8.5x11 and brochures are usually 11x8.5 trifold.

See, it sort of depends. We do brochures that are trifold 8.5' x 11', we do horizontal 8.5' x 11' fold outs, etc. Personally I prefer
to mix it up and do different sizes. Before my first pro job I had no idea brochures could be other than 3-fold! Oh my gosh. How fun.

Magazine and newspaper sizes depend on the publications column width, so it varies for each publication.
Flyers are usually 8.5' x 11' but you can get creative and get out of the standard sizes on those too.
Sometimes different and unusual sizes attract more interest and attention.
I'd suggest checking out some design books to get ideas on how to design 'out of the box' and mix it up..
