Recently brought a Xerox 7700 colour laser printer.
for some reason, the toner comes off the paper when printing. What causes this problem???
I tried several files, some were fine....others just made a mess...
Anyone have any suggestions?

Your fuser is not working properly, Did you try a different paper stock?

as a matter of fact, I did. The results varies with differen paper stock, which is an obvious reason. Another strange thing happened is the way the file was made. If I use a PDF in quark, it did be fine. But if it's a photoshop eps in Quark....then the toner fails again. I can't really put my finger on a specific problem!!!

Is the pdf printed out of OSX and the quark doc in Classic mode. I don't know what that would have to do with it but I do know that there are different drivers for classic mode and osx, that could make a difference.

I am still a bit unsure of OSX since I am working on a G4 machine only........I am using 9.2.0 right now

Are you sure you have the latest drivers installed for that printer and that system? I am stumped!

Fuser temperature.
1) There are 2 speeds for the printer, one is fast for paper stocks and the other is slower for fusing onto cardstocks. ONe of these will be better for the paper you are running.
2) Go into your 'Improve Print Quality' menu and find 'Adjust Transfer Setting'. You can adjust it to -4 through +4 (higher being hotter) Play with this setting untill you find the optimum temperature for your paper. Note that the toner will come off both if it's too cold AND again if it's too hot.
