I have never heard a weatherman use the phrase "oppressively humid" so many times as I have in the past two weeks. The whole weekend was in the 90's here, with thunderstorms on and off, and so humid that you can see the moisture in the air!
Well, it's back to work for most of us, ready or not! Anybody have any exciting projects this week?

Word. It's too dag hot here in the 518. Our duplex doesn't have AC so I spent most of yesterday with my head in the freezer recovering from my bachelor party. Note to self: learn to build an igloo immediately. This week should be pretty tame workwise though. Happy Monday to all!

81 here with 86% humidity! That's about normal here for this time of year. Its hot at 8am..blech!
Morea - the weather here this weekend was much like yours! rainy & humid!
Nothing exciting this week. Same ole same ole in newspaper land. Damn! I demand change!! LOL! The thought of doing another automobile ad makes me wanna hurl!
But I won't let the man get me down! Nope! Not gonna do it!
must...make...changes!
G-Man - NO AC??? Yikes! That would be a crime in Georgia! LOL!

I agree. Someone should arrest my landlord for cruelty to humans. The word "oppressive" is definitely appropriate for this ongoing heatwave.

no kidding!
actually, I heard on the news today that the weather conditions are such that people shuld stay indoors if at all possible...
the air quality is bad (lots of ozone, which can gives asthmatics and people with allergies a really hard time) and super high pollen and other joyous things.
Neuro and I were working on our yard yesterday, and as he was pushing the lawn mower a cloud of yellow dust was coming off the grass in front of him. After it rained some, the puddles were SO encrusted with pollen that it looked like they were solid enough to walk on.

Our weather as far as heat and rain are about normal right now for this time of year. Its summer...and its hurricane season - Oh joy  August is our hottest and most unbearable month. They say you get use to it but....I've been in Georgia for 27 years and when walking to your car at 8am makes you break a sweat - you would really rather just stay indoors..LOL
Surpisingly, as bad as my allergies are..today is the first time all year that I have had any problems at all with them. That's so wierd. Maybe turning 30 took my allergies to a land far, far away? ;)

it's pretty awesome - i was riding my bike yesterday (whilst i normally ride quite agressively, the humidity forced the mandate of 'just fast enough to create a breeze'), and it was 'snowing' pollen.
i work out in a gym that is a bit of a fishbowl - corner of a street-level building, floor to ceiling windows on two sides - so people in the street, trying to escape their hot apartments, stand out front of the gym and watch us work in the oppressive humidity whilst smoking butts. nothing like some street level car exhaust and cigarettes mixed in with your smog and humidity to help out your lung capacity! weeeeeeeee!
sum, sum, sum, sum, sum, sum summertime!

Oh, it sucks to be awake.
No oppressive humidity or pollen here. Just us forest trolls.
YUP... pretty hot these days here too.
And just think... summer is one week and one day away!! LOL
I'm burnt to a crisp once again... I thought my ONE time burn was done. And I even bought, and applied every 2 hours... sun BLOCK!!
I guess being on the boat, in the water, back on the boat, on the wakeskate, back in the boat, then into the pool... doesn't help. (not to mention lots of beer too... )

Uncle ... that sounds terrible. Have you considered exercising at home? The scene you describe doesn't sound too motivational ... nor healthy.
As for the heatwave ... I feel it coming too. Lucky things are quiet work wise (god, I can't believe that is a good thing), because I need to shower like 3 or 4 times a day at the worst ... I can't imagine what it'd be like when the heatwave hits as hard as they say it going to this year. It suits me though ... just enough work to pay the bills, and give me lots of free time to avoid hot and sticky office environmetns .. yuck.
In fact, I can already smell the cattle market smell of sweaty human flesh approaching ... I never noticed it before (being a hayfever sufferer), but these new hayfever pills seem to have introduced summer odours that I'm suprised, get no mention in summer poetry ...
What beautiful air
Clean and clear
In The Busy City
I can smell everyones sweaty rear
Ugh.

ulysses: nice poem.
i haven't considered working out at home - my neighbours cigarette smoke leaches into my apartment anyways...bah. time to buy, methinks...
i failed to mention that i bike across town to get there too...exhaust-ing...hahaha.
here is a haiku on the impending heatwave and the rich tapestry of aromas that it can bring with it:
the heat wave draws near
summertime in the city
corned beef and onions
ahahahaha - i didn't mention that toronto had a garbage strike 3 summers ago - friggin awesome. the kids parks and splash pads were all closed, and the garbage was being piled in the green spaces (ie. the kids parks and splash pads). the heatwave was AWESOME that year...hahahaha. stack up a few million people in a relatively small space and everybody goes mental.

Louis Black gives us a barometer of how to measure humtiy...
"You wanna know when the humidity is over a hundred...When you say to yourself...You know I should've put deoderant on my balls...Thats how you know its over a hundred."
I have that little meeting this afternoon, fingers crossed...praying something good comes of this
