I'm preparing badge designs and signage designs...typically I come up with the concept and our production team makes the files print-ready.

Because they are totally unhelpful in any way, can someone give me some things to keep in mind when creating this stuff ie.setting up the file in illustrator...allowing for bleeds etc.? how much of an extra border do I allow for the bleed...

do I sent any graphics separately or keep in Illustrator but as cmyk and at least 300dpi?

Don't exactly know what you want....but...

1.) Normally for press or any other stuff...0.125' of a bleed is enough.
2.) Make sure the line for Die-cut is SPOT-COLOR and OVERPRINT

3.) Depending on what software you use....
You can do it all in Illustrator (make sure u embed on images or if linked...send the image along too)
You can do it in Quark or InDesign (Make sure you send fonts and images)

4.) Outline all fonts in Illustrator if possible!!

5.) Make images in CMYK......RGB tends to be a Pain the AXX for colours and press.

This is helpful thanks. Can I ask why do you have to outline all fonts? Just curious.

it eliminates having font substitution on their end or you having to worry about sending the font files along, since it is no longer editable text it is vector artwork.
