I have an idea! - a GDF mascot!

I reckon the GDF should have an animal mascot! We could get people to design their own mascots and submit them for a shortlist, then a vote.

I have a few ideas:

-Graphic Design Flounder
-Graphic Design Frog
-Graphic Design Firefly
-Graphic Design Ferret
-Graphic Design Feline (there you go morea)

Personally i like the graphic design Flounder, has a certain charm and humbleness. Flounder: the fish that evolutionary sensebility left behind

i thought they may have an overwhelming vote in this matter. There are so many cat lovers here, i wonder why? The only pet i have is a kookaburra, but its not really a proper pet.

a platypus! thats actually not a bad idea, it symbolises uniqueness (although the GD flounder is pretty unique) and beauty, its distinctive all traits of the wonderful designers

I think we should be careful not to associate words like 'sensible' to natural design. For once things, fish have been around a lot longer than mammals, and I'd bet that the flounder has been around longer than humans. Flounders evolved their amazing transformational adaption not with any conscious effort-- but because they had to to survive! I'm not a mascot fan at all. They're too often exploited to promote misinformation and popular disrespectful errors about lifeforms that we just happen to be sharing this planet with. What does it say about us if we make a living thing that cannot respond an object of ridicule for our amusement? Does it say anything more than what we've been saying for eons through our management of wildlife? And survival of a lifeform is probably the farthest thing from a joke there is.

In particular when it comes to design. In that regard, even the 'lowest' lifeform on the planet (you pick) will, with careful consideration, out-design anything a human mind can possibly come up with. Lifeforms are nature's portfolio. Or God's, if you look at things that way. In any event, they represent the most complex and adaptive design 'pieces' that we know of. If anything, humans are the real mascots in the DNA tapestry. Cartoonishly arrogant and self-centered, and complete with our caricature of self-important species pride.
