Has anyone got any good links, or books that I should buy to help explain how to create websites in Dreamweaver?

Everything from creating the layout in Photoshop, slicing it up, extracting the HTML, defining the root folder, importing into Dreamweaver, and further tweaking. Would be good if some of it explains CSS too and how it all works.

I'm going to start building my first website in Dreamweaver soon so it'll be good if I can learn a bit beforehand. Please, share any weblinks or books that you recommend I should read. Thanks.

Books, I recommend The Missing Manual if you're good with learning from a book. If you prefer hands-on training/workshop type tutorials, you really can't beat www.lynda.com.

My local library even has books on Dreamweaver ... won't cost you a penny.

How much time do you have to learn? Course.com has some Macromedia books I thought were pretty good. The step by step tutorials should be easy enough to follow for self learning without having to be in a classroom.

Depending on how deep you want to go, especially since you mentioned CSS, learning some HTML and CSS might be good too. HTML For the World Wide Web, Elizabeth Castro, Peachpit Press, is a good book and one of the less expensive at only $20. The nice thing about Dreamweaver is if you type in the code section, it offers suggestions after you type even one or two letters inside a tag (an auto complete feature). That should speed your learning.

The best books I've used are H.O.T. Hands on Training books by Lynda Weinman. http://www.lynda.com/info/books/dreamweavermx2004/
