I am working with a marketing guy on this 4 page layout that is going to go on 11x17 paper, folded, with a center spread of info. The back cover will have a chart, and the front will have a photo cover.

There's not much info for the back, so I ask my supervisor for any advice. The center pages I picked up from a previous job done by the senior designer. The marketing guy wants to make the back cover landscape with the cover and inside pages portrait. That really doesn't match the company's brand. My supervisor looks at it, says the interior pages are all wrong, with improper leading, type size, etc.

Ok, this I picked up from the sr. designer's work, and I say so. Does it get addressed? No. I'm supposed to correct it for this job and figure something out for the back, because my supervisor is too busy to deal with it.

The problem is I'd rather just talk to the sr. designer about things, they're easier to communicate with than the department supervisor. But it looks like the dept. supervisor wants to review all my work before giving it to anyone, meanwhile, they're too busy to look at it.

Oooookay...

Yeah, the corporate world sucks.

Just make it so it looks right to you. Show off a little, act like you have creative freedom since they didn't exactly say what you had to do. Try to have fun with it.

Heck, I know I piss and moan a lot, but a lot of times my internal snide comments get me by enough that I can laugh about it. I may just go back to that massage ad with the fireworks and create my "pigs in space" parody.

The old hurry up and wait routine. Those big wigs just never learn. Chin up Wiener!

What drives me nuts is today, I'm not sure I'll have anything to do at all! Everytime I ask if there's anything I can help with, it's usually some crappy, aggravating busy work, or trying to define color profiles on the Fiery server for the color copier/printer they have. And that just sucks, because my supervisor will be very difficult with color-matching. The printer company service tech says she's infamous with the company, and how unhappy she is with the printers they have had.
