Okay, I am originally a Freehand illustrator, so this is not making any sense to me.

How do I create a shape in AI and export to InDesign to show only the shape with no bounding box. I keep getting a white bounding box when I import the shape. I want to knock out the background and just import the shape.

Simple I am sure, but I am not getting it.

if you export it in illustrator format there shouldnt be a problem, i also think that indesign might have a transparancy feature if i remember correctly

I exported as an Illustrator eps so that I could keep it a vector graphic, but it kept giving me a white bounding box. I can't seem to rid myself of the background.

All it is, is a graphic of a white star that will be placed on top of images in the InDesign layout. There should not be a bounding box.

The only way I can make it work so far is if I put the star into Photoshop first and add a clipping path. Very irritaing because I know there must be a way straight from Illustrator. I never had problems with backgrounds in Freehand. This bites!

When you export it as an eps I think there is an option you can check to keep the transparency.

Just figured it out. White was set up as a cmyk color. When I changed it to a spot color, it worked.

I just save as AI and it works. Where is the Spot color output option?
