I appologize, I didn't think it would take too much. Ok, I'll change my request. Can someone let me know how I should go about cleaning up the logo on my website (www.EmailAppeal.com (http://www.EmailAppeal.com)) using Paint Shop Pro? (That's the only graphics program I have... besides paint...)

you can't clean it up really if the only version you have is a gif, you'll have to redo it.

Gotta say that Paintshop Pro is MS Paint's slightly older brother ((absolute sh*te) its a bit like them crappy photo editing programs that ship with inkjet printers)
In the unedited variation of your post you said that you created the logo? and you need someone to fix it?
To answer your question in terms of analagies...I know absolutely nothing about car mechanics...if my engine broke down however, I would be a foolish man to start fixing it with a plastic spoon...I would be forced to pay someone for their services.
Your local printshop may be able to help produce the artwork, (or someone on here if given sufficient financial compensation for the fact that they have invested money in the correct software to do this work, the time they have spent honing their skills to a point that they can do it correctly, and the time they would have to spend creating it and transmitting it to you in a format that you can work with)

I have a version saved as .psp, not just the .gif. The part I want to make less blurry (the orange text) is an antialiased vector text object. I have tried making it not antialiased, but as you probably already know, it looks much, much worse.
Ghastly, I understand the reasoning behind the sarcastic reply. I also understand that fixing a car with a plastic spoon is (albeit far fetched) vaguely akin to doing graphic work with PSP.
However, I figured someone here would be able to at least point me in the right direction (even if it is "Pick up a copy of photoshop") to do it myself. After posting the request for free work (which I again admit was a completely stupid thing to do, I should have thought about that before I did it, eh?) and getting the post frozen, I got to thinking that I need to look into learning more about graphic design. That's why I posted this post. I appologize if I have offended you by using PSP, but it's what I have.
On a side note, I'm a software developer, and if you posted a request for help on a Visual Basic board about using VB6 to write a 3D game, I wouldn't have made such a blatantly sarcastic analagy about how VB6 sucks. It's a valid tool, and people use it, so I would have answered with what information I could, and mentioned that you may want to upgrade.
It's called tact, making fun of me doesn't make you "cooler" to the people here, it just lowers your credibility and makes your posts worth that much less. Would you take advice to someone who just made fun of you? I didn't think so.
Have a great day!

emailappeal...first off, I wasn't making fun at you...my choice of phrasing would have been a lot different if that was the case.
At this time I know nothing about software development and so I cannot comment as to the validity of Visual Basic 6...I can however comment on the fact that Paintshop Pro is a toy. (No part of my first post to this thread implied that I found your usage of Paintshop Pro offensive by the way)
Given the context of your first and second posts...it is evident to me that you are not a graphic designer (hell perhaps someday you will be...but certainly not yet) my advice to approach a printshop was genuine advice because tasks such as these (from lots of experience on my part) is pretty common.
If at some point I post on the visual basic board, It would be because I cannot find the answer to my question easily and would in no way shape or form ask for someone else to produce/fix work for me gratis.
I do not waste my energies trying to look cool...serves no purpose
*edit* one more thing.....been a long time since I had a great day but thanks for the heartfelt sentiments

No one in their right mind would suggest rebuilding it in Photoshop. You should rebuild it in Illustrator or even CorelDraw. That way it will be a vector that you can manipulate for any medium without a loss of quality. Then you can save it as a gif or jpg for the web.
If you just want to fix the orange text, leaving the rest the same. Paintshop Pro should be able to handle it. Just use an eraser to carefully erase the orange text, type it again (find the font too) and it should work out okay. I don't know Paintshop, but apparently it has most of the capabilities of Photoshop. No reason to waste your money.
DO NOT MAKE LOGOS IN RASTER PROGRAMS
regardless of what software you own... don't do it.
There's the solution.

hi email,
hmmm... well, you can download a 30 day free trial version of Freehand and/or Fireworks from www.macromedia.com it's a fully functioning demo and you can "fix" it with those. i believe you can import PSP files into Fireworks.
but yeah, from now on, if you plan on doing any more logos, i'd invest in Illustrator or Corel Draw. yes, they're expensive but if you're a student or even possess your old student ID, you may be able to get the educational versions which are substantially discounted.
take care,

Thanks for the ideas. I'll try re-doing the orange text, I've got it saved as a vector, so it shouldn't be too hard, eh? I just have to figure out why it went blurry in the first place. Good to know that PSP 7 (Which can do vector graphics) should be able to handle it. If it can't, I'll get that 30-day free trial of one (or all) of the Macromedia or Adobe products and try it there. Great idea bout the educational discount, too. I'll give that a try (my fiancee is still in grad school, so it will be somewhat legal)
Ghastly, I appologize for taking your post the wrong way. And I do want you to have a great day :)
