Recently, just out of the blue, when I go to the Window menu and down to Swatch Libraries, nothing shows up. The other libraries (brushes, styles, symbols) all show up, but not my swatches, and I need to pick some Pantone swatches.
Any ideas as to why this is happeneing? I am running Illustrator 10 in OS X. Out of OS 9, the swatches show up, but not OS X.
Thanks for any help.

Jon

We had this exact thing happen, and the designer had way too many fonts active. We were in OS9, I don't know about the 0S10 part of your issue.

Never had this happen to me. Try throwing your Illustrator preferences in the trash and reboot. Or maybe you can do a custom install from your Illustrator disk.

It's usually a corrupt font issue, not the fact that there are too many. (Removing some probably removed the bad one.)

Fonts fonts everywhere in OSX. Font management with corruption scan HIGHLY recommended. This OS quivers to a halt with a single simple corrupted font. Would be a great utility if Apple made a font watcher (not FontBook) to keep an eye on things. It is their OS after all.

Do you use the automatic updates for OSX? This last week, vikia lost Safari due to Apple's fine auto update.

I don't use auto update. I always download. And if possible, wait for the combos. And definitely remove any attached firewire drives. And do the permission thang before and after, not just after. Plus I never keep important stuff on the OSX partition. I've had to reload one too many times already.

The problem was way too many fonts loaded! Font Book had like 150 fonts loaded that I didn't know about - disabled them and it worked again. Not using Font Book for much longer - it is a crap program.
Thanks for your help!!!
