Creating a wash effect

Can anybody point me in the right direction to creating a watercolour wash effect in Photopaint12? i can't get the look right, i am using it for a concept drawing. Here are examples of the kind of effect i am looking to get:

i was afraid i might have to go to painter. but i was just playing around with texture fills and they seem to have done the job OK.
