I am not paying another 25$ to go back to school to learn these ****ing programs all over again.
I repeat, I am not paying another 25$ to learn these programs again!!!
will adobe ever figure out that when they change drastic things, it messes with peoples heads?
://end rant
Okay, on to my problem (as if they ever end with this new version) by default in Illy CS 2, I have no anchors on my type or on my paths. WHY!!!!
Anyone know?

Wish i could help ya D-Frag..I haven't touched CS2 yet and prolly won't anytime soon BUT I will say that I am with you on breaking the crapintosh :D
My question is probably answered by your "by default" condition, but is it possible that under the VIEW menu "hide edges" is activated? (I believe the default setting is for edges to be shown.)
If that doe not solve the problem, another question to narrow the possibilities: do you see vectors but no anchor points, or no anchor points and no vectors?

Yeah, command+H, the shortcut for Hide Edges, is too damn close to the Group command (command+G). I hit it all the time and all my bounding boxes and text editting vanishes. Just hit command+H again and they all come back.

thank you guys, command H was what I was looking for, the jump from 10 to CS2 is really screwing with me, and why it defaults with those turned on is frustrating in itself.
thanks again for the quick fix, you guys rock!

don't forget to turn on "Scale stroke and effects" in the preferences. It's still an option, not a default. Never did figure out why...

yeah, that was the first thing I went and looked at was the preferences, saw that the scale strokes and effects wasn't turned on, and I turned it on.....it just boggles me that adobe would set up different versions with different defaults, talk about ****ing with someones head, thats just not cool

Does anyone know if you can create a gradiant or fade in illustrator that goes to transparency? It would make illustrator more like photoshop if it could do that but stay vector for scalability. Are drop shadows better in CSII. I heard that you should always set another layer for anything dropshadow so you can get ride of it if you want without it being a total pain. Some brushes make cool effects but when you put it in outline mode it a small line. Is there a way to expand a brush or pattern that you could then manipulate further?
The live trace does still kick butt.
