Having just found out I'm a dumbass (it's OK, I'm in Prepress, I'm over it already) is there a way to ungroup multiple groups in Quark? Sorry, this may be an easy one but I haven't found it yet.

rickself,
You mean to tell me you don't know how to do this! I'm prepress also--I don't have a clue either. Try this, if it's several pages--view in thumbnails, shift click all the pages to select them all and then ungroup. This may or may not work but it's the first thing that came to mind. If it's a single page--click page --select all or apple A and then ungroup.

sorry to hijack this for a second, but rickself, your statement about prepress made me think of this poem a friend sent me. Thought you might appreciate it. ;)

Last night as I lay sleeping, I died, or so it seemed.
And then I went to heaven, but only in my dream.

Up there St. Peter met me standing at the pearly gate.
He said “I'll check your record, please stand here and please wait.”

“I see that you drank alcohol and smoked a smoke or two.
Fact is that you’ve done everything good people never do!”

“We can’t have folks like you up here! Your life was full of sin.”
Then he read the last line, took my hand, and said “Come in.”

He led me to the Boss and said “Take him in and treat him well.
He used to work in Printing… He’s done his time in Hell!”

Everyone here in prepress are asking for a printout of the poem--hilarious :D

Kinda makes ya warm and fuzzy all over!!!
Hope that wipes clean everything I did in the 70's

But I still haven't a clue how to ungroup more than one thing at once. If I select two separate groups on a single page and say ungroup, it just don't work.

Make sure you're using the Item tool not the content tool to select your groups.

It STILL doesn't do it. Open a Quark file, make 1 group, then make another group. Now select both groups and try to ungroup both of em at the same time. Using both shortcuts and the menu, it DOESN"T work.
HELP

That's strange it works for me. I can select multible grouped objects on a page then ungroup them all at once. However I have the Item tool selected (very top tool in the tool box at the left side of the page). With the content tool selected it won't work. It's the only thing I can think of.

You all might compare versions you are doing this in. It doesn't work in v4 which I have here at home. What about v5 and v6? I'm pretty sure there's an ALAP Xtension for it too in the Xpert Tools bundle.

Good point, PrintDriver. I don't use 6 that much, mostly work in 5 and the majority of Quark files I get go back to 4.!

That's the problem. It works for me in Quark 4.1 but does not work for me in Quark 6. Interesting. Must be a extention maybe. I'm going to work on it for a while and see what I come up with.

v4.1 was the best version. Stable as a rock. We still use it and a lot of our designers and outsources do too. From choice.

Gee wally, guess what I just did? I selected 3 different groups in InDesign and ungrouped em ALL AT ONCE! YOWZA. And they all went back to their original layers!

We can prolly now call this thread dead. Dead Thread.

There is a free extension called ungroupall at: http://www.visionsedge.com/XTensions/index.asp?id=ungroupall

It works and will ungroup all multiple groups, just fine and dandy.
