Hi there,
I have been creating my new personal website for the last month and I am still in the process of finishing it. Just wanting to see what people think and wanting to see some honest opinions on the whole design and layout overall.
Would really appreciate it thanks guys.
Oh and just another thing the velia & alex page is flash and I am still trying to create a loading bar. As I have never done one before its taking me a while, so if you see a blank page please just be patient and wait for the cartoon to load, there is music with the cartoon also. It may take a minute! Thanks!
here is the link

As for a loading bar, www.macromedia.com (http://www.macromedia.com) has tutorials for them. This was good practice for Flash, you may want to consider a non-Flash version even though the purpose seems to be just an online portfolio. I would recommend more elements that tell the user what is going on. For example "image 1 of 10" or something to that effect. I would also include an "enlarge" button so it clearly indicates that you can enlarge images. Never make us dummies try to think, tell us dummies what to do. You now get to walk the fine line between telling us what is going on without insulting our intelligence. Welcome to the world of web design.

thanks cbs, I agree it does need to be a bit more intuitive. For example in the photography section you can enlarge the photos BUT no one would know that unless they try it :/. Will check out that link.
Appreciate it.
i find that i usually i click on pictures i want to see more of. i didn't have a problem with this aspect.

Most of us designers and creative types will do that, and I did too, but if you ran a usability test, you would be surprised how many don't explore. If it is not obvious, it will be missed. There is nothing wrong with a few little added treasures for the exploratory user to find, but if you want most people to know about it, you have to make it clear.

yarrrr 'tis true, designers are a much higher order of intuition than mere mortals. :) .
