Hi,

Yes, another question, sorry, but I'm sure it's basic for you experts out there.

If I'm designing a page layout say 8.5x11, what exactly is the best program to do the job in, i.e. Photoshop or Illustrator? Also, when these documents are created at the above size, it is best to sent the print job in its original format (i.e. PSD to Printer or .AI to printer), or convert to jpgs?

I've had much success in sending my logo designs to print in the .AI format instead of converting to a jpg.

Please help!

logos are always done in illustrator because its vector

with a normal page layout i think its pretty much up to you want you use...I would do illustrations in illustrator and photo manipulation in photoshop....and do the layout in either....I prefer photoshop

I would guess your printer should be able to either .ai or .psd I doubt you would need to convert to a jpeg. make sure you include the font with the doc file to the printer or create for outlines in illustrator

Like BP said...I would keep the Illustrations for Illustrator and the photo manip. with PS.

For a one page layout I would go with AI and stay away from PS. Your text will be more crisp and clean in AI and to me its just easier to make changes to in AI. Photoshop isn't the best for handling text for print. When you send it to the printer, go with the AI file or export to PDF...stay away from the .jpg for print.

What's the layout about? Just curious :o)
