Well everyone, here is my initial "logo" for Kevin and I's "wedding identity" that'll go on the front of the invitations, program, etc. I don't have access to a printer right now, so I'm not sure if the colors will work on paper or not. We're planning on using sort of a light/medium brown paper so the yellow should show up pretty well on that. The feel we're going for is laid-back and fun, but still romantic. Comments? Suggestions? Am I on the right track or should I try another direction? Thanks :D

good luck & congratulations

Thanks guys. I'm not sure how to make it more knot-like with out losing the amperand too much and making sure that the ampersand/knot connects to "kevin" and "cassi." But I'll see what I can do.

I'm not really feeling it. the "tie the knot" needs to somehow standout more. I'm also not a fan of the "Kevin & Cassi" font. It's a little wishy-washy and give me mixed messages. The Tie The Knot looks very modern and nice (is that futura?). I think that Some how you need to find a harmony between the names and the "tagline."

Also, the colors sort of say MacDonald's to me.

Good start though, keep the ideas coming.

Thanks DY, especially for the comment on the colors. I'm only looking at this on my own monitor, so I can't tell what the colors really look like. (They look much darker than McDonald's on my screen and I don't have access to a printer right now). I'll what else I can do with the fonts, too.

Okay, I tried to take some of your advice. I've updated the ampersand, and I hope it looks a little more like a string or knot. I also worked on the typeface. Is it working any better? I didn't do much with the colors, because I don't have my new Pantone books yet (I should have them in a few days). Here is one with a san serif tag line and one with a serifed tag line. Well let me know if it's looking any better and which one you prefer. :)

Very nice! I like the sans serif on the bottom. The "o" reminds me of a wedding ring.

The yellow looks like it has a little more red in it than the very first example. That will work better I think as inks are so transparent on paper. Maybe some of the printers can weigh in on the new yellow on brown paper.

Thanks Vikia. The colors might still change. I want to see what these actually look like printed out, and I'm waiting on my Pantone books to get the colors right.

Cassi treat it as a logo...

I would seriously think of working in mono before I added colour, get the type sorted then move on to the next stage...

As for the design, it is looking better, but I feel a better union could be made.

Maybe making the flow more direct at the top of the ampersand between the 'n' and 'c' might help?

I like the design of Kevin & Cassi. Is there a color theme to the bridesmaid dresses or the wedding itself? I would probably try to match them.

Could you clarify what you mean a little better? I think I see what you're saying but I'm not sure.

Weinerdog, there is a color scheme and this is it. :) Dark red and yellow to correspond to the flowers we want to use: Choreopsis and Dahlias.

That is your job as designer, I just feel the words seem forced together, not 'matured' together...

...hope this makes sense???

Maybe it might mean choosing a different font style of your ampersand, it might mean outlining the font in illy and barstardizing it to give it more union.

Below is kinda what I mean (it's more elaborate), sorry if I am being vague, but I just feel it looks a little generic at the moment.

Maybe looking at a more tradition scripted/calligraphic font would give your more room for manipulation??

Anyway hope I haven't confused the situation.

Thanks Mitch, I see what you're saying now. I'll play around and see what I can do. The ampersand actually is my own creation - not a real font. But I'll work it around a little more.
