Hey folks,

We just launched a new ad campaign (http://www.smashlab.com/work/smashlab_ads). Some people think it's kinda gross? What do you think?

Thanks for your feedback.

I find that offensive. As a designer it is not at all how I would want to portray my business. Not sure the rationale behind it but I can't say that I would go to a business that used those images to promote themselves.

ingenious and at the same time just wrong.

I agree that the campain reflects a negative image of the company... generally speaking.

Then again... it depends on the target.

The condomn one is just though... unessecary.

It is something I won't forget,lol.

depends on your target marget...definetly grabs the attention, but would a serious, high educated, high income company say, "hey...these guys are awsome man...huh huh"

I like it tho...to be honest...but that's my sense of humor

it may be offensive to some but I think its great. Has a great tagline, is creative, it pushes the boundaries, and its brave :)

the only crit i have is in the execution...it could benefit from a little refining, overall though great job.

It got my attention. Congratulations. But so does a urinal turned into a fountain.

Let's move on.

Very creatively 'outside of the box', but even so... not really appropriate.

Hi Everyone,

We want to thank you all for taking the time to critique the ads. Your feedback has been very helpful and insightful.

We’ve found it to be a very polarizing campaign, and are quite excited about the kind of dialogue it seems to have spurred.

The next phase will launch in a few weeks. We look forward to any comments you have on those as well.

Regards,
Peter (and the rest of the folks at smashLAB)

Well thats one way to do it I guess...the graphics are certainly strong, daring, and the shock value makes them memorable. The creative process is certainly strong, but I do think you need to keep somethings under wraps in certain markets. These adds may be more appropriate to a European market, but they are liable to get banned in american media (I could be wrong though.) Other methods could have been used to convey the same image as well, but may not have been as memorable...ie Giving blood, crying, sweating (though Gatorade has done that), and find one other method I guess.

Strong ideas...strong creativity...and your right gross execution.

The man juice thing is just wrong. And rainbow colors??? C'mon you can be more creative than that. I'm gonna start marketing myself by sending out postcards and smearing catshit on them so people will remember me.

it's very creative however I can see it turning off alot of clients. you might have just crossed the line here. You'll get people who LOVE it or will HATE it. I would bet more of the latter and you don't want that.

I guess you intend to be shocking, but a less polarizing solution could include rainbow blood, sweat, and tears -- and hair. :)

Haha I got a grand kick out of this, I bet you guys had a blast doing a photo shoot in the crapper and fabricating a kaleidascopal terd. It kind of looks like the Adobe Photoshop CS feather.

Brilliant. and very ballsy. I think without the tagline, these are just gratuitous, but altogether they make for a strong campaign.

different - and if it does the job of pulling in new clients then obviously thats great,
maybe keep us informed of how many clients actually came through this ad?

Good suggestion... It kinda ties in again to the work, as this is what we are giving the client.

Maybe worth pursuing?

That is AWESOME!

If you are in Europe, go ahead and use it. If your main business is in the US and centers around large, traditional clients then rework it.

Either way--enter it into award shows as self promotion. Its a surefire win at some level.

i love it. it is very unique and unforgettable. it definately works for the challenge: "to get out the message that they build powerful and memorable work". it is definately memorable and bold. very eye catching and i think its hilarious. great job

So do you agree that I should start smearing catshit on my promotional postcards so people remember me? ;)

well their is always good publicity, and bad publicity....but its still publicity all the same, and im pretty sure your going to get it if you launch this campaign.

me personally (and im kinda a sicko) i think its just wrong....and I didn't laugh, cool concept, but yeah....good luck with that.

very clever, and i have to admit i lauged but It just might be too much too soon.. maybe just the booger one, or just the toilet, or just the puke alone might be ok, but i agree the condom is just over the edge... very creative though!

That's sweet... damn... good times. It’s hugely creative! But once again, as to if it's successful, that would depend on your target audience... but nice none the less...

Well, we were talking about it in another thread. I posted because I wonder if they have e-mail confirmations to thread posts still and maybe their curious to see if we're still curious. After all, I'd like to know how well this actually did.

i remember this...... it launched about the same time i started Fried Color i thought those are colorful but i don't want rainbow sperm (hay isn't that one of the care bears?) in any of my ads. it doesn't look like they have changed anything on this page.
