I am using Quark 6, and everytime I use the Apple Script to make crop marks it crashes.

Has anyone else witnessed this? If so do you have a remedy?

It is driving me insane!!!!!

Edit: This is from the Quark site...

Mac OS only: Using the Add Crop Marks AppleScript® (Script > Box Tools > Add Crop Marks) on an equation box selected with the Item tool causes QuarkXPress® to quit unexpectedly.

I know, Quark is such a headache!

I have had less grief from girlfriends than i have had from this application!

Not too sure on the Equation box (I guessed it is just a common name for a box), it is just quark being quark! ;)

Anyone else?

Not without you buying a plug in from ALAP...
Sorry.
I use Xpert Tools Pro from ALowlyApprentice Software.
You get live crop, trim, bleed, safety marks as well as a scale tool, Find/change, Guides ("Clear All" is worth the cost of the software, LOL), ImageInfo, and a whole lot more.
It's $179 USD
But it's well worth it.

DoH!

I was fearing this, my boss wont spend any more money on a application we don't use...

Thanks folks. :)

Are you trying to add crop marks on the master page? If so, Quark will crash. According to the info contained in the "Add Crop Marks" script, the "script does not work on master pages." Also, the script does not work with pasteboard items and only one box can be selected at a time.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bob no it was not in the master page...

It was only one box and I HATE Quark.

Thanks for your time though.

PC environment > don't know if this works on mac
I add crop marks in the Print Dialogue box, under registration.

Can you do that on a mac?

Yes this can be done on a mac, but sometimes I need to impose a job myself (business cards for example) and need them 4 or 6up on a sheet and therefore multiple crops on a sheet.

I have never used Applescript to create crop marks.

I have always used a set of .eps crop/printers marks that I created in Freehand or Illustrator and keep in a handy production folder. That way I can use the same set of marks no matter what application I am in.

Can you export the business cards as an .eps place them back on your imposed template and create what you need that way.

I am just a lazy arse, and like the old crop marks extension in 4.

We knock out a lot of cards, and other small A/W of all different sizes to go to film/plate, this was just a very easy way to do it before.

Thanks for the help.
