Hi everyone,
This is a logo for a new golf club going up in Mississippi.
It's not final yet so I am hoping to get a lot of feedback.
Personally, I don't like the logo. Please give me some help in to which direction you would take it.

The mark looks generic and it doesn't look "golfy" to me... It kind of reminds me of a Chinese food restaurant. Also the size proportion of the mark to the typography seems off. I think there could be a better placement of the two.

the problem I have with it is that it doesn't say GOLF to me. now that little symbol might be something Golf related, but hell if I know and that simple fact is not a positive. you have to make your logo, especially, recognizable to the general masses. This could be anything to me.

Is the symbol Celtic?
I am not feeling it at all either. The font is all wrong, it has sort of a middle eastern feel to it and unless they are serving Sizzling hot falafels in the clubhouse I'd say change it. Although it may be a bit boring I say follow the name and keep the design real traditional. Choose a nice classic serif font and make it more "golfy". Google golf courses and check out their logos if you need some inspiration.

I have a really great idea for this but I'll never tell. Unless you answer some questions. Is that a Celtic symbol above the traditions? What kind of club is it, Irish themed? High class? Private? Public? Young folks? Old folks? A mixture? Men only? Women only? Co-ed?

Is it Cro-Magnon exclusive?

I guess he's afraid to answer the questions.

we need more info to comment on a desired direction. I understand the connection between the Celtic symbol and the word "traditions" as golf=Scotland=celts but I'm getting a feeling that it's to vague a connection. Then again you don't want to use a flagpole on a green so... tell us more.

I thought Celts were Irish? And thus have nothing to do with golf. ;)

sorry, had to run out for a while,
I agree on it needing to be a little more traditional typeface.
yeah, it's either Celtic or Welsh.. it comes from that area.
This golf club is open to everybody.
I'm told it's actually more of a subdivision community.. with golf... and equestrian stuff/tennis etc.
I'm not sure what the connection between the golf club and Celtic knots is but I was told that it needed to have some form of Celtic knot in it somehow...yeah.. kinda strange huh.
I was thinking that somehow knotting the rope form around the letters somehow.
doesn't say golf...
I'm just not really finding it very sucessfull in that aspect.
The icon is a bit overcomplicated and I just really don't get the point behind it. Cause I see nothing affilated with golf in that design.
Reminds me of a company that does out door ornamental decor or something... on first impression.

My immediate concern when I saw the icon portion of the logo was - that's never going to work as a small embroidered image on clothing items sold in the club's pro shop. The icon is too complicated and there is no connection to the font selected. I agree with the others who have posted that it doesn't say "golf" to them in any way.
