Okay everyone...I'm sure many of you remember my previous thread with many variations on my business card layouts. Well, I took some time away from them and came back to it with a new idea that I think really reflects me and what I do better than my previous attempts.

As you may remember, I specialize in automotive related artwork, but I'm trying to branch out and do graphic design for other types of clients.

So, I've kept a subtle car theme in the design. This is actually reminescent of a 58 Buick side trim but abstract enough to work as just a design so as not to say I only specialize in car related design/artwork.

Anyway, let me know which of these two fonts work best or if I need to try something else. I'm leaning towards B. Colors will be PMS638 blue and 877 silver with a spot varnish over the silver in the middle of the card.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

Sweet! I must say I really like this one better than your others. It looks like part of a late 50's Chevy. Oh yeah 2nd one is much better IMO, lowercase works better than all caps and I like the extra detail in the blue. Nice work!

First of all, I love the car-like graphic element, especially the treatment in the second version. The color scheme also works very well – classic and modern at the same time.

I think you definitely want to go with normal capitalization as you do in the second version since it's much more readable. But to me the font in that sample doesn't quite go with your logo. It seems to have a softer, cutesy look to it that conflicts with the slick, polished look of the rest of the card. Perhaps try a middle ground and use small caps like the "Moore" of your logo. That will give you a little more readability than the all caps in the first sample and will complement your logo and the card design. Be careful using fake small caps (where you just hit the "small caps" button on your type options, versus using a font that is created as small caps) since you can often end up with different stroke weights on the different sized letters. Depending on the quality of your printer, the stroke you have on the address in version B might be too fine which may cause the color to bleed and make it harder to read. (I think I have a small caps font that would work well, email me if you want me to send it to you.)

As for the card layout, I'd try to create some alignment with the logo and your name to anchor both to the design. Try aligning the top of the name with the horizontal stroke of the T in the logo since it's already pretty close to it anyway (close enough to make it look like that's what you intended).

Finally, you might try increasing the leading between the lines of the address, phone, email. Just my personal taste, but it feels a little tight to me. You've also got an extra space that you don't need between the state and zip code.

Sorry if that's more feedback than you wanted. I'm new here.

Thanks for the feedback. Pica...I agree with your comments. I've been struggling with finding fonts that I like and getting them to work with the design.

My TMoore signature is so streamlined but it's hard to find fonts that work with it. I can't find any fonts that work well.

I'll keep searching some more.

Thanks to everyone for the comments..I appreciate the help.

im a bit late.. but second one is coolest!
as for the font - why dont you go for a font that is completly different to the one used for your sig?! like arial or something plain like that... then there won't be any change of it clashing with the signature..
good luck

I would try a light_gr-on-blue instead of the rather hard to read white-on-blue for the information. Maybe there is a way you could add a gradient to the text so that it would be more balanced with the rest. Right now all I'm seeing is your signature and it feels like i have to 'hunt' for the information.

I like a combo of the text on #2 and the basic design of the top. I don't really think you need the reflection in the blue, especially if you're trying not to pigeon-hole yourself into car graphics. The first one gives enough abstraction that you can just lose yourself in the design. the second with that reflection recalls metal which, to me, recalls car. But, I'm apparently in the minority, so meh. :D
