I am working on a brochure for a construction company, and I was wondering what colors would work well to represent construction in the brochure, besides s'thing like black and yellow (which is the color if their logo by the way)

I guess shades of black<50%, brick kinda red. I also seen green used a lot, maybe maron just like your avatar...even orange

if their logo has yellow in it you want to keep some of that in the designn. it's consistance. you could also use the complementary color of blue.

I've seen gray and orange working well together. Gray brings the 'steel' element into it.

Uh, isn't purple the complimentary color for yellow?

Yup. You could try an analagous color scheme, orange yellow, yellow, and green yellow. Or spread it out a bit - orange, yellow, green. Keep the colors bright and use a lot of black that has a purplish cast to it - this'll subtly create good contrast against the yellow. Course, theres always the primary color scheme, double complementaries, monochromatic, Chromastic Inverted Spectrolytic.
