this past spring i got a sweet deal on a Canon Digital Rebel for working at Apple ($500 & quite a big upgrade from my Powershot SD10). The kit lens (18-55mm) does ok and I purchased a 50mm 1.8 canon lens a little after. I've been having a lot of fun trying to become a decent photographer and I am looking to get a new lens sometime soon. I am going to save to get a semipro level 70-200mm tamron lens, but I'm looking for something in between (maybe 28-90mm) or something...
any suggestions?

I have the same camera (but over here it's called EOS 350D, which is similiar to Rebel XT or something). I have the original kitlens (EF-S 18-55mm) and a Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR. My next lens will probably be the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, replacing the kitlens. After that, I'm probably going for a decent macrolens. It's an expensive hobby, but fun.
