InDesign to Web... is it possible?

Believe it or not, but up until a week ago our company didn't have a website despite being around since the 60's!

Over the last few months I had been playing around with a really basic site, doing all the design work in InDesign as I just needed mock-ups to convince the bosses that we needed something, anything.

So after a few revisions and whatnot, we finally had something they they liked. A local company that we do a fair bit of printing for also offers web services, so it was decided to contract to them to build our website.

I packaged all the indesign files up, as per my normal routine, and shipped it over to them on DVD. Within 24 hours they had our entire site done. I asked their technical guy why it didn't take very long (their initial estimate was 3-4 days) and he basically said that I did 90% of the work by supplying them with everything they needed.

This intrigued me as to how they were able to take my indesign files and produce a entire website (about 10 pages) from it, in a short period of time.

I've got to do a re-design on my volunteer fire department's site, something I've been putting off because I wasn't sure how to approach it. BUT, if I can do all the mock ups in InDesign, and figure out how to create a website from it, i'd be laughing.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Hello. I'm trying to edit the footer of this website: www.dtpss.com (http://www.dtpss.com)
In the footer, I need to horizontally center the Verisign & BBB images.
Here's the code currently in place:

Code:
---------

<%=getCurrentAttribute('site','copyrighthtml')%> 1-877-387-2838

---------
I have tried using the TD table method rather than div and span and that will center the images but then it messes up the gray line and the copyright info (making them only half the width of the page).

Thanks for any tips!

Hey all,

I was wondering if there are any typefaces that the stems of the "A" are concave (particularly, a mainstream typeface if possible - although I expect this may be very atypical). Here's a very quick Illy throw together just to help illustrate the shape.

The letter needs to be symmetrical as well (making it likely a sans-serif typeface).

Thanks for any input, or probably more likely, information regarding the irregularily and rarity of this.

Even if I had convinced myself that the sheep placenta ingredient was a good thing, I'd still probably not really want to be thinking about sheep or placentas while using it.

That's just me though, and like I said, I'm probably not your target audience.

I tend to show a lot of music videos when I teach graphic design - i find that film and GD are extremely closely related and music video is one of the more interesting short-form video mediums out there.

so, i am always on the lookout for interesting, unusual, and generally well-done music videos and i have found that visual designers and artists tend to have the best taste. What have you seen that you like?

A few i saw recently:

Just caught this this AM, directed by Garth Jennings - Vampire Weekend: "Cousins" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e0u11rgd9Q&feature=player_embedded)

Amazing and done all "in camera" so to speak (what and you will see what i mean): SOUR - "Hibi no niero" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfBlUQguvyw)

Hi people..

This is my situation:

Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to a guy that was starting a company. He needed a logo, website, business cards, letterheads made.

We agreed on a price, although no contract was ever made up or signed (I know, big mistake).

Since then, I did the work, but he failed to make payment. I sent him an invoice and i've been chasing him for over 3 months. He keeps giving me poor excuses, tells me abot his personal and finical problems, ignoring some of my emails, and basicially stalls as much as he can. We had agreed that he could pay me in little bits, cos he seemed like a nice guy and a friend of a friend. But he hasnt even given me a penny. I even took the website off the server to show I was serious. He just came out with even more lame excuses.

I told him I now have no option but to make a legal claim via the small claims court, to get the money owed to me. He did at first promise payment within the week, but then stalled some more. He might be thinking my threat to go legal is all talk...

Im filling in the forms now to make a claim, my only fear is that because i didnt get a contract signed I may not get my money. All I have is all the emails we sent to each other...

Is there a likelyhood I will get my money? Any advice?

Thank you.

logo critique for city sim game project

Hey all, I'm working on a logo for an open source Sim City style game project called Metropolis. I've come up with a basic design I like, but I'm stuck on a few secondary things. I wanted to go for a slightly Art Deco look while still getting the "city" part in there; Here's the basic shape:

Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b.png

My main question is if I should add an "M" to the design, like this:

Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b2.png

Beyond that, I'm not sure what to do about the color scheme; so far I'm liking either silver:

Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b3.png
Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b4.png

or gold:

Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b5.png

or maybe even something a little more colorful:

Image: http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/jnbixler/logo_b6.png

What does everyone think? Thanks for your feedback!

Image: http://grid.ilyatitov.com/logo.png

Hi guys, need a bit of crit and feedback on the above logo.

I am developing a bookmark collecting website (http://grid.ilyatitov.com/) as my university project.
I though that the tentacle is a good representation of someting that gabs and snatches, and a peeled banana as a representation of quality content.
Do you think the logo works?

Comments on the name and layout are also welcome.

I have a degree student exhibition in the next few days.

I have created a 3 foot geodesic dome, in which 5 of the hexagons across the centre are dented in - opposed of outwards.

Within the 5 hexagons will be images and text. But since they are not flat, there is a ~10deg gap in the hexagon to make the shape 3D.

How can I split an image to have the ~10degree gap?

Please help!
