Agreed, the best way to do it is to not. There are better ways to create direction instead of using an effect that won't translate across all mediums as a crutch.

I really hate these "typography" pieces, sorry, there's no rhyme or reason to why you treated each word the way you did, none of the treatments augment the message which makes it nothing but...

Did you mean to include a picture? But adding effects to a vector logo sounds like a bad practice to me, because it should be reproducible in one solid color. Can you make use of speed lines?

  • I have no idea what I'm doing.

At least I'm okay with admitting it, though. ;D

Anyway! I thought I'd stick a toe in the water and start practicing this type of creativity more often... so, picked the first forum I found for inspiration and advice I (Like, literally. First page. Google search + enter button = lazy girl) and here I am. A bit out of the loop as far as message boards go, so I'm a little nervous to explore around the site, but very excited, too! Hoping I can make several acquaintances here -- in addition to following their work and maybe learning a thing or two about what it takes to mold me into the graphic designer I want to be.

Not in a huge rush as I know it takes a heck of a lot more than farting around in Photoshop to become a professional.

    So, greetings!

Welcome to the forum Hobbit. I hope you'll find it useful and fun here.

We ask all new members to read the threads posted HERE and HERE. They explain how the forum runs, the rules, frequently discussed topics and our inside jokes.
