  • What are your Career Goals/Dreams?

    #1
i think my career dream is to one day have my own Recording/Graphics Studio, where recording artist/groups/bands can record an album and get all the marketing material at one place.

that's funny i wanted to get into the same area, but with out the recording part of it, i would really enjoy designing cd labels/covers etc...and try to express their music with my designs...I dont know while i was taking my graphic design course, we had to do an assignment and make a band up and design a label for that band, i didnt really have any interest in it, but after that, i was hooked, literally, i'm still today on my free time sitting designing cd labels for known bands...it's fun stuff...so yeah that's where my goals lay, oh and starting a graphic design business in australia, but probably wont happen i'll just jump from design firms to design firm..hehehe so yeah there ya go..

I am going to take over the Internet...soon they will call surfing 'PERMing the web'

google will change to 'Perm Search'

actually my plans are to be an art director in the next 4 years before I turn 28 of a good sized design firm.....

before I am 40 I would like to open a design firm and give opportunities to 'young bucks' like myself and good paying internships...but I would be hardcore hard on who I hire

My goal is to have a career I enjoy. I don't necessarily know what that is quite yet. I'm tired of being unhappy. I've promised myself that I will no longer take a job I know I will hate.

Thing is, as long as I can find a job working with friendly people, WHAT I'm doing doesn't really matter. Seriously, I can be happy in just about any career as long as I no longer end up working for a 'Bitch Queen'.

Wow... good question. I think it can all be boiled down to this: I want to do good work.

          Everything else ensues.

That's it for now...one small step at a time.

Hey, I was just named Director of Marketing for my company last week... that's well beyond what I would've imagined for myself by this time. However, my friend and I just started a business that we hope takes off in the next year... then it'll be working for ourselves, doing art we want to do and making enough money at it that we can make our own schedules. That's the best, I think.

Ryan... that doesn't seem far off for you.

Thanks, defjoe. I guess I can't make fun of marketing people anymore... in most circles, I think of marketing as a group of dumb people who studied it as a last-resort or must-do (like pro football players who majored in business or communications) and sit around guessing.

i think you might be right on that April.. .but now you the head of the morons. you have to look at it on how you got to that position. you worked your way up because of your knowledge and experience, nt because of some college degree and a bunch of marketing classs. you can feel that you truly deserve it...well done!
