Anyone following this? I posted it over on FB too but no one seems interested. I found it interesting

The tech sector is pulling out the big guns now.

Google, the Web's top search company and one of technology's most influential powers in Washington, will post a link on the company's home page tomorrow to notify users of the company's opposition to controversial antipiracy bills being debated in Congress.

Google confirmed in a statement that it will join Wikipedia, Reddit and other influential tech firms in staging protests of varying kinds against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), which are backed by big entertainment and media interests.

Yeh I've been following. Google's message is apparently "Stop piracy, not liberty". Whatever that means lol.

There was a notice posted on Wikipedia last night about it. It referenced this link for more information (should anyone want to read it):

It's always when things are made too complicated for the average person to understand that there is always little interest in important things.

That's kinda why I like the LOLcats video. Short. Simple. Catchy.

Not even going to get into how we absorb info as a culture.

In response to questions about how the protest link would appear, Google said it would not replace the company logo.
                Well, that wasn't exactly true.

fortunately, I'm not american, and I don't get the flu shot because I don't want to inject myself with some group of boffins guess... so no nanobots! woohoo! as for tinfoil hats, they are stylish.

I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I know most controversial politics is motivated by financial gain.

                      AMERICA... PANCAKE YEAH...

seriously though why does our government care about piracy? sure they would collect more taxes if stuff was purchased legally but they aren't losing profits like the companies getting bootlegged. i think the government should be able to prosecute people that get caught stealing stuff off the internet but they don't need to be the internet police (the consequences will never be the same!)

the companies making the products that are getting bootlegged need to figure out a way to deal with it. raising prices is obviously not the answer (yet they continue to do so) as that is a large reason people bootleg stuff in the first place. next thing you know we are going to be like china and have large chunks of information blocked because large bloated companies that are sinking, and don't want to change their ways, went crying to uncle sam that someone stole their milk money.
